A warm towel is recommended. Insert the ear candle through the center of the protective flame shield up to the “stop burning” line with the foil side facing the large end of the candle. Place the tray table next to the chair and ear of the person being candled and place the bowl of water on the table as close to the person as possible. Light the large end of the ear candle on fire and gently place the small end of the candle in the ear. Hold the candle perpendicular to the ear with the large end at a slight upward angle. Do not blow out the candle. As it burns it will create ash that needs to be trimmed with scissors at least every one inch. Remove the candle from the ear before trimming the ash over the bowl of water. Repeat trimming each inch of ash until the candle has burned down to the “Stop Burning” line. Remove the candle from the ear and extinguish it in the bowl of water. Warnings Do not use without protective flame shield. Do not use near wind drafts. To avoid excess smoke indoors, burn directly under an exhaust fan. Open windows create drafts and should be avoided. Ear candling may set off a smoke detector. Although excess ear wax can be a nuisance, some ear wax is essential to maintain good ear health. No more than 4 ear candles per ear are recommended in one session or more than one session in a two week period. Ear candles are a disposable, one-time use product.
